An inmate serving a sentence at Tarragona prison escaped on Thursday from a restaurant located in the Les Gavarres industrial estate, taking advantage of a scheduled outing.

The Mossos d'Esquadra confirmed to ACN that the incident occurred around 2 PM. The group of inmates, which included the man, made a planned stop at a fast-food establishment in the Les Gavarres commercial park. During the visit, the inmate went to the restroom and used the opportunity to escape through the emergency exit.
Prison sources indicated that this was not the first scheduled outing the individual had participated in and highlighted that he is not considered a violent person and maintained good behavior within the facility.

"The Mossos have organized a search operation that, for now, has not yielded results."
