Salou has unveiled a new fleet of vehicles and equipment for its street cleaning and waste collection service, backed by an investment of 10.3 million euros.

The TAS square in Salou hosted the official presentation of the new fleet of vehicles, machinery, and equipment for the street cleaning and waste collection service. The event was presided over by the mayor, Pere Granados, and attended by members of the municipal corporation, heads of the concessionary company, and representatives of local entities.
This renewal, which incorporates the new corporate image with the slogan 'Estima Salou' (Love Salou), represents a global investment of 10.328 million euros. The primary objective is to modernize a significant portion of the vehicle fleet, machinery, and container park to increase service efficiency and move towards a cleaner, more sustainable city model, adapted to the needs of a municipality that receives millions of visitors annually.
Among the most notable innovations are the inclusion of electric vehicles, new dual-compartment collection trucks to optimize the collection of two waste fractions in a single route, and a specialized vehicle for cleaning containers. Additionally, the number of street sweepers will increase from five to eight units to enhance public space operational capacity.
Regarding equipment, 299 household containers will be renewed, approximately one hundred new selective collection points will be installed on the beaches, and 55 large-capacity bins will be placed in areas with high foot traffic.
The new contract also focuses on promoting recycling. Following the success of a pilot program, the door-to-door collection service for the hospitality and restaurant sector will be progressively extended throughout the municipality. Hotels will also, for the first time, have a specific system for collecting packaging, plastics, and cans.

"The renewal of the service represents a significant qualitative leap thanks to the incorporation of new technologies, less polluting vehicles, and greater operational capacity."

Pere Granados · Mayor of Salou
Mayor Pere Granados highlighted the service's qualitative leap and called for citizen involvement in maintaining public spaces in good condition, thanking the cleaning service workers for their efforts.
Through this initiative, the town council reinforces its commitment to sustainability, the improvement of urban services, and the quality of public space, aiming to solidify Salou as a benchmark in street cleaning and efficient waste management.
