The Salou Auditorium Theatre (TAS) hosted the reading of an institutional declaration by the Mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, on the occasion of Ceuta Day. The event was attended by council members, the justice of the peace, the head of the Local Police, and representatives of neighborhood and cultural associations.
Granados congratulated Ceuta and its citizens, defining it as a "profoundly Mediterranean city, with a unique history and a consolidated Spanish identity." He reviewed Ceuta's historical ties to the Spanish crown since 1415 and its legal recognition through the Treaty of Lisbon of 1668, stating that "Ceuta is Spanish by history, by law, and by the will of its people".
The declaration expressed Salou's solidarity with Ceuta's society in the face of migratory pressure and irregular entries, emphasizing that the border affects not only Ceuta or Spain, but also the European Union.

The mayor advocated for migratory flows to be "legal, orderly, and safe" and called for a coordinated response from administrations. He also referred to a report from the National Police sent to the National High Court concerning the massive entry into Ceuta on July 30 and 31, which could have been planned from Morocco, and demanded a full clarification of what happened.
The declaration stressed the responsibility of the Government of Spain and the European Union to provide Ceuta with the necessary resources and to strengthen cooperation with countries of origin and transit.
Granados acknowledged the "responsibility and resilience of Ceuta's society" and the work of the Security Forces and Corps, health professionals, emergency services, and entities. He concluded by stating: "Defending Ceuta also means defending coexistence, compliance with the law, the protection of our borders, and our shared history. Ceuta is Spain, and Spain is also Ceuta".
As a symbolic gesture, the facade of the Salou Town Hall will be illuminated with the colors of the flag of Ceuta.
