The Mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, highlighted the city's social commitment during the presentation of the solidarity dinner. The event, to be held at the SUMMIT rooftop of the Hotel Olympus Palace, will allocate its proceeds to the Catalunya Sud Biomedical Research Institute (IRB CatSud) and projects from the Cardiology Service of the Joan XXIII University Hospital of Tarragona.
Granados emphasized Salou's ability to forge alliances between business leaders, healthcare professionals, social entities, and institutions. "Initiatives like this demonstrate the spirit of Salou and its organizations. A solidarity linked to people's hearts, to the heart of Salou, which ultimately benefits the entire region," he stated.
The hearts installed in Salou, one at the entrance of the Hotel Olympus Palace and another on Passeig Jaume I, symbolize the city's solidarity. Gil Cristià, representative of the hotel's ownership, highlighted the work of healthcare professionals.
The head of the Cardiology Service at Joan XXIII Hospital, Dr. José Luis Ferreiro, noted that the funds raised will support new research lines. The director of IRB CatSud, Dr. Joan Vendrell, also stressed the importance of local research.
The Rotary Club Tarragona is once again supporting the initiative's dissemination. The participation fee is 60 euros per person, and a 'fila zero' (zero row) has been set up for remote contributions.
The evening, which will include a cocktail dinner, surprises, and raffles, has been held since 2019. The 2025 edition raised 16,190 euros.
