The heat has led to an increase in vegetation fires across the Tarragona region. In addition to the fires reported on Saturday morning in Querol and Flix, seven new incidents occurred during Saturday night and Sunday morning. The affected locations included Riudecols, Mont-roig del Camp, El Perelló, Tarragona, Valls, La Ràpita, and El Vendrell.
The fire that required the most resources was detected on Saturday at 7:39 PM along the banks of the N-420, within the municipality of Riudecols. Reports suggest the fire may have started from burning plastic tubes, with flames spreading to nearby vegetation. Six fire crews from the Reus and Falset stations, along with EPAF and GRAF units, managed to stabilize the front by 8:38 PM, after 2,450 square meters had burned.
Shortly after, at 8:52 PM, an alert was received for a fire in the municipality of El Perelló. Firefighters from L'Ametlla de Mar and Móra d'Ebre stations, along with GRAF and ADF, participated in the extinguishing efforts. Later, at 9:47 PM, a fire burned approximately 300 square meters of forest vegetation on Sant Lluís street in Miami Platja (Mont-roig del Camp), an area that had already experienced another fire during the week. The possibility of arson has not been ruled out.
Around 10 PM, a fire crew extinguished a fire next to the bridge on Prado street in Valls, affecting about 100 square meters of reeds.
On Sunday, shortly after midnight, two fire crews from El Vendrell put out a forest fire next to the N-340 road in the capital of Baix Penedès. The fire consumed 300 square meters and a fiber shack, and was declared extinguished at 1:24 AM.
At 1:15 AM, a small fire of five square meters of scrubland was reported next to the market in Bonavista, Tarragona. Finally, the last fire was detected at 11:49 AM on De l'Anglès road in La Ràpita, near La Encanyissada, where two fire crews were dispatched.
