These grants, available since 2020, aim to address the damage caused by increasingly frequent and intense climate events. The funding is directed at town councils, decentralized municipal entities (EMD), and regional councils to cover expenses related to floods, strong winds, hailstorms, or forest fires, among other incidents.
The subsidies also cover urgent actions to restore essential services such as drinking water supply, sewage systems, public lighting, road paving, or the repair of municipal facilities. Additionally, exceptional and urgent technical, economic, or legal assistance may be included. The events justifying these grants must have occurred between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026.
Among the financed actions are the reconstruction of a footbridge over the Gaià River in Aiguamúrcia, beach improvements in Alcanar and el Vendrell, the construction of a breakwater in Aldover, and the repair of roads in Barberà de la Conca. Interventions also include repairing the courtyard of the municipal school in Benifallet, the sewage system in Masroig, and sections of the Via Verda in Terra Alta and Baix Ebre.
Other included actions involve clearing debris from public roads in la Secuita, emergency interventions at the Pratdip Castle, and the repair of sports facilities in Reus.
In total, 193 out of 234 applications have been approved. This aid line already allocated €4.3 million in 2025 for similar repairs in municipalities within the same regions.
