The plenary session approved the terms to transfer part of the Battestini bus station facilities to the Department of Interior. These premises will house a joint police station for the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Guàrdia Urbana, an initiative the municipal government has described as pioneering.
Furthermore, the transfer of part of the old Tabacalera building to the Ministry of Culture has been authorized. The space, covering over 10,000 square meters, will be used for the future Provincial Library, despite disagreements expressed by some municipal groups regarding the territorial balance of facilities.
The plenary also addressed other current issues, such as the location of the Barraques event, which has sparked protests from various groups. Additionally, institutional declarations were approved for the removal of asbestos and support for the petrochemical sector, along with a motion defending industrial employment at DOW Chemical Tarragona.
