The Board of Directors of Mercats de Tarragona has requested that the Tarragona City Council launch an internal investigation to determine the exact causes of the fatal workplace accident recorded on September 15.

The decision was made during an extraordinary session convened following the incident, which took place in the septic tank of the Central Market underground parking lot. The goal of the audit is to obtain a detailed and objective view of the events, complementing the inquiries already being conducted by competent bodies, such as the Labor Inspectorate and the Mossos d'Esquadra.
During the meeting, all available information regarding the incident and subsequent actions was made available to board members. The entity's management emphasized the need to act with maximum transparency and rigor to clarify the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Meanwhile, the second worker affected by carbon monoxide inhalation during the incident remains admitted to the intensive care unit at Joan XXIII Hospital. According to medical sources, his condition remains critical with a guarded prognosis, and there have been no significant changes in his status.
