The Torredembarra City Council has organized a solidarity march with pets and dog therapy workshops to celebrate World Animal Day, observed on October 4th. The activities aim to raise funds for the association Torrecat and introduce the benefits of dog-assisted therapy to users of the Fundació Onada and Fundació Pere Badia.

The Department of Animal Welfare has designed a program of activities to enjoy with pets, collaborate with Torrecat, and highlight the role of animals in human well-being. Councilor Angie Muñoz explained that they wanted to offer different activities for this celebration.
On Saturday, October 3rd, the first Solidarity March with pets will take place. The walk will start from the Port of Torredembarra at 9 AM and end at Cal Bofill. Participants will receive merchandise at the start and can enjoy cake and chocolate upon arrival in exchange for a donation to Torrecat. The day will conclude at the dog-friendly beach area.
The activity is free with limited places, and donations are voluntary. Registration can be done through the Viu la Torre app until September 30th.
Additionally, dog therapy workshops have been scheduled. These will be held on September 30th at 11 AM at the Fundació Onada and on October 1st at 10:30 AM at the Fundació Pere Badia. The workshops will be limited to a maximum of 10 users per foundation to ensure the quality and well-being of both people and therapy dogs.
These workshops are designed to improve the emotional and psychological state of participants, leveraging the demonstrated benefits of dog-assisted therapy, such as improved emotional regulation, reduced anxiety and stress, and relief from depressive symptoms.

"We wanted to prepare different activities to celebrate World Animal Day, allowing us to enjoy our pets, help Torrecat, and bring therapy dogs closer to the users of Onada and Pere Badia. It's a way to celebrate this day and, at the same time, show the role animals can play in people's well-being."
