Vila-seca will have five new spaces exclusively for dogs starting in early 2027. This municipal initiative, with works scheduled to begin in the autumn, represents an investment of 767,197 euros to establish these enclosures.
The new canine parks will be located in existing green areas, adapting a total surface area of over 3,000 square meters. The primary objective, according to municipal sources, is to «promote coexistence and animal welfare, providing safe and adapted spaces for dogs and their owners».
After the project was declared void in a first tender last year, the works have now been awarded to the company Constècnia 3 in this second bidding process. All five spaces will be accessible for people with reduced mobility.
The new facilities will be distributed across different areas: a 1,050 m2 park in La Plana, located at the sports complex; another 611 m2 in Parc dels Prats in La Pineda; and three more in the Vila-seca nucleus: in Parc d’Austràlia (671 m2), Parc de la Canaleta (670 m2), and the Abat Aureli Escarré passage (258 m2).
Each park will feature 1.4-meter high security fencing with concrete foundations and a double-door system to prevent dogs from escaping. They will also include urban furniture such as benches, bins, water fountains for animals, and natural shaded areas, with the planting of fifty new trees. Additionally, drainage systems and slopes are planned for cleaning and to prevent water stagnation.
The works, with a maximum duration of six months, are expected to commence in the autumn, with all five facilities operational in the early months of 2027.
