The Roda de Berà City Council begins works on Monday to improve the drainage system in Mediterranean Square to reduce water accumulation and flooding during heavy rainfall.

The works, which will start on Monday and are expected to last between three and four weeks, are a response to incidents recorded around the square and under the train tracks bridge, where the capacity of existing drains is insufficient to evacuate surface water. This situation causes water pooling on the road and leaks into the basements of nearby buildings.
To address this issue, the project includes the installation of new drains at strategic points, the replacement and improvement of some current collection elements, and necessary connections to the existing sewage network. Affected sections of the road and pavement will also be restored.
The objective is to enhance rainwater collection and evacuation, reduce public road pooling, and minimize the risk of basement flooding in buildings, while also increasing road safety and improving pedestrian circulation conditions.
The works will cause occasional traffic disruptions. The Local Police anticipate intermittent road closures that will change as the work progresses. The City Council advises residents to pay attention to the temporary signage during the construction period.
