The Palau Bofarull in Reus hosts the exhibition Doctors of heritage, surgeons of the past, organized by the Diputació de Tarragona, starting January 15, to show the public the complex processes of artistic conservation and restoration.

The Palau Bofarull, headquarters of the Diputació de Tarragona in Reus, is the setting for the exhibition that highlights the work of the Unit of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets of the Diputació. The exhibition emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

Restoration fights against time to preserve a past that slips through our fingers.

The exhibition features several restoration projects carried out recently, explained through panels and reproductions of the restorers' workspace. Notable works include an oil painting by Maties Palau Ferré preserved at the Alcover Museum, the altarpiece of Saints Càndia and Còrdula from the Tortosa Cathedral, the boundary cross of Forès, and the Mare de Déu del Lledó (Virgin of Lledó) from Valls.
To complement the exhibition, two free activities have been scheduled. On Thursday, January 15, a guided tour will be conducted by the staff of the Conservation and Restoration Unit, focusing on the intervention phases and preservation techniques.
Additionally, on Tuesday, January 27, the practical workshop Put on your coat and grab the magnifying glass, today you will be a heritage doctor will take place, allowing participants to experience firsthand the materials and treatments applied in restoration. The exhibition can be visited until February 7, Tuesday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and prior registration is required for the activities.
