The Francesc Vidal i Barraquer Institute of Tarragona has been awarded an honorable mention at the Digital Skills Awards Spain 2026, presented by the association AMETIC and the European Union's Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition. The award ceremony took place on Thursday, October 22nd, in Madrid, as part of the 9th forum of the Alliance for the Development of Digital Talent. These awards aim to identify, value, and recognize the best experiences in developing digital skills for society, professionals, education, women and girls, inclusion, and vocational training.
The recognized project, titled ‘Development and Application Plan for Artificial Intelligence’, is a joint initiative with the Training School of the Chamber of Commerce of Tarragona and the technology company Inetum. The objective has been to integrate AI in a useful, ethical, and sustainable way into vocational training, applying it to teaching, academic and administrative management, guidance, and employability, thereby strengthening the connection with the business community and the technology sector.
The center has developed six lines of action, including teacher training in AI, the creation of an internal knowledge transfer Moodle, automation of academic and administrative processes, development of an intelligent BOE reader, establishment of an AI commission, and a project with Inetum for students to gain real-world project experience.
The Vidal i Barraquer Institute is the sole Catalan representative among the 16 finalists for these awards, which received a total of 63 submissions.
