The Torredembarra City Council has initiated the finalization phase for the two projects selected in the 2026 Participatory Budgets, involving a total investment of 195,000 euros.

The two chosen projects are the improvement of the Escola Molí de Vent playground, with a budget of 95,000 euros, and the planting of trees to create shaded areas and climate refuges, with 100,000 euros. The process received 289 proposals, of which 12 reached the final stage, and over 1,500 people participated in the vote.
Mayor Raúl García highlighted that participatory budgets allow for decision-making with citizens, adding that the selected proposals now need to be finalized and turned into improvements for Torredembarra. Joel Ramírez, Councilor for Open Government, remarked that participation does not end with voting; citizen decisions must translate into concrete actions.
For the improvement of the Escola Molí de Vent playground, representatives from the school's management and the AFA met on Thursday, October 22nd, with Mayor Raúl García; Councilor for Open Government, Joel Ramírez; Councilor for Services, Vale Pino; and Councilor for Education, José García. In the coming weeks, the school will gather needs and establish priorities with the participation of the management, families, and students. The resulting document will be evaluated by the City Council to determine the feasibility and cost of the improvements within the available 95,000 euros.
José García, Councilor for Education, emphasized the desire for the playground improvements to meet the school's needs, listening to the management, families, and especially the children. In parallel, the City Council is studying locations for planting trees with the allocated 100,000 euros, aiming to create new shaded areas and improve citizen comfort in high temperatures.
In this regard, a working meeting was held with municipal technical services, Mayor Raúl García; Councilor for Open Government, Joel Ramírez; Councilor for Services, Vale Pino; and Councilor for Sustainability, Angie Muñoz, to assess possible locations. The selection will consider the planting potential of each space and the trees' capacity to generate shade. Vale Pino, Councilor for Services, pointed out the need for a thorough technical evaluation to ensure the actions are viable and the budget is maximized.
