The Department of Justice and Democratic Quality reburied on Wednesday, August 14, 2026, at the Caseres cemetery (Terra Alta), the skeletal remains of ten Civil War victims, recovered during three archaeological interventions between 2018 and 2020.

The remains, which could not be identified, have been returned to the municipality where they were located and have received dignified burial at the Caseres cemetery, in accordance with current regulations on mass graves and human remains from the Civil War and the Franco dictatorship. The reburial, almost ninety years later, is part of the Generalitat's actions to recover, identify, and dignify the victims of this historical period.
The Generalitat's Plan for Graves aims to locate and excavate graves from the Civil War and the Franco dictatorship, recover the remains, and, when possible, identify and return them to families.
An informational plaque was also unveiled outside the cemetery during the ceremony. Thus, the space where the remains have been reburied is now incorporated into the Network of Memory Spaces. This network helps contextualize and preserve sites linked to the Civil War and brings historical events that took place there closer to the public.
