The ceremony was attended by a significant institutional and political representation from Junts, including Jordi Turull, Mònica Sales, Josep Maria Cruset, Felip Monclús, and Laura Domènech, among other party mayors and councilors. This appointment strengthens Junts' presence in Terra Alta.
In his inaugural speech, Sabaté stressed the commitment to continue the initiated project, stating: "This is not a turning point, nor a continuation, nor even a comma. It is the continuation of the narrative we are building to make a better town." He highlighted the same working dynamic and coordination, with weekly meetings to resume on Monday.
“"We have understood that the parties we represent must be at the service of the people, and not the other way around"
The new mayor advocated for municipal politics based on consensus and prioritizing the town's interests over party affiliations. Regarding immediate challenges, he emphasized the start of the rehabilitation of two buildings for six homes, the construction of a new medical center, street improvements, and monitoring the urbanization works of the Les Forques industrial estate, scheduled for January.
The outgoing mayor, Núria Molet, highlighted the good understanding among the government councilors, stating: "We have formed a great team to find consensus and move forward with strategic projects that will transform Bot in the coming years." During her term, the expansion of the Les Forques industrial estate was reactivated with an investment of over 10 million euros, the old Via Verda station was renovated, and the Estacions de Bot cycle was consolidated.
In terms of sustainability, the new treatment plant for the Canaletes river, the use of photovoltaic panels, and the LED lighting upgrade have been promoted. Access to the natural space of Les Olles has also been regulated to prevent overcrowding. To combat depopulation, five public housing units have been planned in the former Casetes dels Mestres and one more on Hospital street, along with the Memòria Democràtica route and the new medical center.
