The URTX Humanities Magazine celebrates its 40th volume with a special issue on the history of education in Terres de Ponent, featuring 16 articles.

The Urgell Humanities Magazine (URTX) has launched its 40th volume, an edition marking a milestone that includes a total of 16 articles. Of these, 7 are part of a thematic dossier dedicated to analyzing the trajectory of education in the Terres de Ponent region.
This collection, a collaboration between the Tàrrega Urgell Museum, the Urgell Regional Archive, and the Trepat Museum, and published by the Tàrrega City Council, offers a miscellany of studies, essays, and reviews addressing the history, art, sociology, and linguistics of the territory. The Councillor for Culture, Miquel Nadal, highlighted the significance of the 40th issue as an "anniversary" and reaffirmed the commitment to "research from these spaces of knowledge".
During the presentation, educator Glòria Peret described the publication as "a historical compilation that remains a benchmark for everything that education has been," emphasizing its value as an "interesting and very important publication".
The thematic dossier begins with research by Laia Garcia Garrido on the evolution of education in Lleida from the Second Spanish Republic to the late Francoist era. Other contributions include a study by Ton Solé Bonet on the history of the teaching profession, an analysis by Ramon Rial Carbonell on the figure of Joaquina de Vedruna and the founding of the Vedruna school in Tàrrega, a review of the 250 years of the Escola d’Art Ondara by Ana Belén Rojo, a reflection on rural schools by Joan Lluís Tous Álvarez, an investigation into education in Guimerà by Miquel Àngel Farràs Targa, and an inquiry into the exile and repression of Republican teachers by Jaume Ramon Solé.
The magazine also features diverse articles, such as the insights provided by Isidro Puig Sanchís on Josep Serret Vidós, a Lleida silversmith from the 18th century; Sandro Machetti Sánchez's approach to the Festes Majors of Tàrrega in 1914 and 1916 through preserved films; the analysis of Francesc Macià's evolving thought through his speeches by Josep Vicenç Mestre Nogué and Frederic Porta Capdevila; and the work of women in 20th-century Urgell agriculture, highlighted by Natacha Filippi.
In the reviews section, Miquel Aguilar Montero presents a linguistic atlas of the Catalan domain. Finally, URTX publishes the works from the 2025 artistic creation residencies of the Archive.
