The educational and artistic community of La Seu d’Urgell is once again collaborating on the Petit Mallol exhibition. Starting this Saturday, May 23rd, the foyer of the Les Monges cultural center will host a collective exhibition highlighting the talent and imagination of local students.
The initiative stems from the collaboration between the Institut Joan Brudieu and the Espai Municipal d’Art. Inspired by a project initiated over ten years ago with local and external artists, this format has been adapted for students from these two institutions during May to July, marking the second consecutive year of joint work.
The challenge posed to students of the artistic Baccalaureate (BTX) was to transform a common hardware store item, provided by the historic Ferreteria Mallol, into a unique piece of art. This year, the chosen objects were paper filters, which the young students have manipulated to give them an appearance entirely different from their original intended use.
The result is a surprising dialogue between everyday objects and the contemporary artistic vision of the young creators. The initiative is supported by the Town Council of La Seu, reinforcing the city's commitment to promoting culture, artistic education, and the revitalization of public spaces.
The exhibition will be open throughout the early summer, offering residents and visitors an excellent opportunity to discover the great potential of La Seu's next generation of artists and its region.
