The city of La Seu d’Urgell is in the final stretch of its Festa Major, which began on Friday and will conclude this Tuesday with activities including the Holi Festival, sardanes, the closing party dance, and the traditional stalls.
Monday was marked by one of the most anticipated events, the Correfoc (fire run), organized by the Diables de l’Alt Urgell (Devils of Alt Urgell). This year, the performance drew inspiration from the world of Venetian masquerade balls, offering a spectacle that played with the boundary between reality and fantasy along the traditional route.
The mayor of La Seu d’Urgell, Joan Barrera, highly praised the event, stating that "our correfocs are among the best in Catalonia," and highlighted the high participation and an "apotheotic little pyromusical" as the festival's finale.
Monday's festivities culminated with the Nit sense fi (Endless Night) and a concert by the group The Tyets at the Espai Casetes tent, one of the festival's main musical acts.
Throughout the day, the program also included dancing with the Orquestra Maravella at Plaça Catalunya, a circus show at Plaça de les Monges, and various concerts. Mayor Barrera emphasized the positive atmosphere and the civic behavior of attendees, thanking everyone for the high participation and street activity.
Other notable activities on Monday included a concert by the coral Signum choir, which filled the Sala Sant Domènec under the direction of Quim Manyós, and the popular cycling event as part of the ‘Esport i Festa’ (Sport and Festival) program. The day also offered family activities such as games, inflatables, and water play areas.
