In the town of La Seu d’Urgell, a lottery was held to assign spots for caravans during the upcoming Festa Major. The event took place at the former slaughterhouse premises, as the number of applications surpassed the available spaces.
A total of 100 caravan spots were available, but 108 applications were received. This situation led to the organization of a draw to determine which caravans would secure a space during the festival days.
“"This year, 108 caravans registered, although one caravan did not make the payment on time, so the draw was held among 107 caravans. However, it's not exactly like that, as the 15 organizing caravans are not included in the draw."
The draw allowed for a fair distribution of spots among all registered groups. Caravans that were not successful are placed on a waiting list. If a caravan with an assigned spot withdraws before the Festa Major begins, the spot will be offered to the next caravan on the list.
Joan Roqué, also a member of the Organizing Committee of the Espai Casetes of La Seu d’Urgell, explained that the limitation on the number of caravans is for security reasons.
Through this system, the City Council of La Seu d’Urgell aims to ensure a clear and orderly allocation of the available spots for the festivities.
