The streets of Tàrrega filled with diversity and reivindication during the central LGBTIQ+ Pride Day event. The 'Orgull de Pople' initiative organized a festive parade to promote the rights and freedoms of gender diversity.
The 'Rua-Mani per l’Orgull' parade, which began at the train station and concluded at Plaça dels Àlbers, featured local festive figures such as Nana Honorata, Verreta, and the Gegants Tararots. During the procession, banners with messages like “Existing should not cost life or freedom” and “Loving freely is making a town!” were displayed. Attendees received accessories like straw hats, fans, and bracelets with the rainbow flag.
The 'Sarau de l’Orgull de Pople' included a manifesto reading by Aida Royes, a participant in 3Cat's 'Eufòria' program. The day also featured performances by Ben Alfons (Drag King), poetry recitals by Anna Recasens, and the presence of drag queen Ofèlia Drags, alongside contests, a popular dinner, and a final concert by the duo Turista Sueca.
Throughout June, the Tàrrega City Council and Cruma have promoted various awareness activities, including inclusive storytelling sessions for children and the performance of the theatrical monologue 'Middleground' by Eloi Martín, which explores internal struggles against social expectations.
“"It is very important to reivindicate diversity, especially in current times, when it seems there is a regression of rights already conquered. Everyone should be free to be, love, and feel as they wish, and that is why we advocate for visibility."
