The Hunter's Fair City of Tàrrega is finalizing preparations for its 23rd edition, scheduled for Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27. This sports and leisure event aims to highlight the work of hunters in nature conservation, environmental regulation, and territorial development. The Municipal Campsite – Espai Felip Robinat Felip will be the main venue, offering activities for families and professionals in the hunting sector.
The main day will be Sunday, September 27, from 11 AM to 3 PM. This year, a posthumous tribute will be paid to Benjamí Sala, president of the Tàrrega Hunters' Society from 2012 to 2020, who passed away last November and left a significant mark on the community.
New additions to the fair include the return of the rapid painting contest and the introduction of Compak Sporting, a clay pigeon shooting discipline simulating hunting trajectories. Additionally, for the second consecutive year, a qualifying round of the Catalan Shepherd Dog Association championship will be held.
The program also features the XVII National Contest of the Unió Cinòfila de Catalunya (dog beauty), the Agility Associació Ciutat de Tàrrega meeting, equestrian demonstrations by the Club Escola Hípica de Tàrrega, falconry exhibitions, and hot air balloon rides. The Màster Sant Hubert, a unique exhibition among Catalan hunting fairs, will also be presented.
“"We expect a large turnout again. His memory will be very present at the opening ceremony."
Josep Maria Setó, president of the Tàrrega Hunters' Society, emphasized the fair's popular appeal and announced that the Catalan Hunting Federation will organize activities on Saturday, September 26, to highlight women's participation in hunting.
Mayor Rosa Maria Perelló thanked the collaborators and volunteers for their efforts, and was accompanied by the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Jaume Vall, during the press conference.
As pre-fair activities, a game meat dinner will be held on Friday, September 25, at Espai MerCAT, along with a technical session at the Escola Agrària de Tàrrega. On Saturday, September 26, the Municipal Campsite will host the 4th Cassoles Contest.
The fair, organized by the Societat de Caçadors de Tàrrega – Club Esportiu Felip Robinat, is supported by the Department of Economic Promotion, the Consell Comarcal de l'Urgell, and the Diputació de Lleida. A free urban bus service will operate from 9 AM to 3 PM, with a stop at the Municipal Campsite.
