The Tàrrega City Council, through its Department of Feminisms, has launched a new campaign for November 25th, the International Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women, featuring various awareness, prevention, and reflection activities.

The city will host events focusing on gender-based violence, its consequences, and the shared responsibility to combat it. The program combines public space memory actions, debate forums, practical training, and activities aimed at young people. Highlights include the campaign “Calladeta estàs més guapa” (You're prettier when quiet) with five posters, an awareness video, and a memorial; another memorial titled “Un plat, un espai, una absència” (A plate, a space, an absence); a congress for high school and vocational training students titled “Les múltiples cares de la violència” (The multiple faces of violence); a round table on sexual violence and consent; and workshops on feminist digital self-defense and self-defense.
The campaign slogan, “Calladeta estàs més guapa,” aims to question attitudes and mindsets that perpetuate inequalities and hinder the identification and reporting of gender-based violence. The Councilor for Feminisms, Mara Torre, states that “it is an awareness campaign with which Tàrrega wants to involve all citizens, especially children and young people, to prevent the normalization of gender-based violence.” In the face of this violence, “we must break the silence and promote a collective response,” she added.
The memorial “Un plat, un espai, una absència” in the Plaça Major will feature 130 tables with 1,552 plates, symbolizing the women and children murdered due to gender-based violence since 2003 and 2013, respectively. This emotionally impactful action will be on display until November 26th. Additionally, 12 panels will be installed in various public spaces to remember the victims.
The congress “Les múltiples cares de la violència,” aimed at high school and vocational training students, will take place on October 23rd at the Sala d’Infraestructures de la Generalitat. It will feature presentations by the Fundación Ana Bella, El Taller on diverse masculinities, and the theatrical monologue “El preu de ser qui som” (The price of being who we are) by actor Eloi Martín Casanovas.
On November 3rd, the Societat Ateneu will host the round table “Què hem normalitzat? Violències sexuals, consentiment i responsabilitat col·lectiva” (What have we normalized? Sexual violence, consent, and collective responsibility). Participants will include Ariadna Castellà Sociats, Roger Martí Guarro, and representatives from the Mossos d’Esquadra in Tàrrega, moderated by Mireia Fontanet Viladot. Updated guides on sexual violence will also be presented.
On Saturdays November 7th, 14th, and 21st, the gòTIC center will host a feminist digital self-defense workshop led by Ramon Oromí Farré. On Thursdays November 12th and 19th, the municipal sports center will offer a self-defense workshop led by Aitor Cano. Both workshops require prior registration by emailing feminismes@tarrega.cat or sending a WhatsApp to 687 58 03 98, with optional childcare services available.
On November 25th, the November 25th Manifesto will be read in the Plaça Major at noon. The campaign involves collaborations with entities such as Associació Alba, CCOO Terres de Lleida, Creu Roja (Red Cross), and the Mossos d’Esquadra, among others.
