On the occasion of Mental Health Day, celebrated on October 10th, the Badia del Vallès City Council has issued an institutional declaration at the latest municipal plenary session in September. In this declaration, the institution reaffirms its commitment to promoting mental health, following this year's motto from Salut Mental Catalunya: “Teixir vincles és fer salut mental” (Weaving bonds is doing mental health).
The declaration highlights the “involvement of professional teams, the associative fabric, specialized entities, individuals with lived experience in mental health, and their families” in this endeavor.
The municipality offers various mental health resources, including the Mental Health Table (Taula de Salut Mental), a collaborative space between the City Council, Health services, and local entities to identify needs and coordinate preventive actions. Also noteworthy is the Mental Health and Addiction Unit at the Badia CAP (Health Center), which provides specialized care to individuals, families, and the community.
Other initiatives include the free film and debate cycle “Baixem la claqueta” (Let's lower the clapperboard), promoted by the Mental Health Unit and Table at the Auditorium, featuring discussions with professionals. Furthermore, the City Council has joined the Barcelona Provincial Council's campaign “Parla, t’escoltem” (Speak, we're listening) to raise awareness about help resources and break the silence surrounding suicide prevention.
Informational material from the Table, including brochures with resources, support phone numbers, and advice for supporting individuals in difficult times, is available in the Accessible Space section of the municipal website.
This commemoration, promoted by the World Federation for Mental Health since 1992, aims to raise societal awareness about mental disorders, combat stigma, and improve care for affected individuals, equating mental health with physical health.
