The Department of Health presented the details of the 2026-2027 flu vaccination campaign to municipalities in the Vallès Occidental region this Thursday, October 29th, aiming to prevent complications and reduce healthcare system pressure.

The online meeting brought together representatives from the Generalitat de Catalunya's Department of Health and the region's town councils to inform about the campaign's deployment and improve coordination between health administrations and local bodies. Participants included the president of the Consell Comarcal del Vallès Occidental, Xavier Garcés, the manager of the Regió Sanitària Barcelona Metropolitana Nord, Dr. Candela Calle, the director of the Sector Sanitari Vallès Occidental Est, Dr. Ricard Armengol, and the director of the Sector Sanitari Vallès Occidental Oest, David Ferràndiz.
The campaign, conducted alongside COVID-19 vaccinations, seeks to prevent complications from respiratory infections, particularly in vulnerable groups, and alleviate healthcare burdens during winter months. Disseminating information to all citizens is a key objective to foster collaboration between the Department and local entities.
Vaccination began on October 5th for priority groups, including residents of care homes, individuals aged 80 and over, pregnant women, children aged 6 months to 4 years, and healthcare and social-health professionals. Since October 26th, the vaccination has been extended to other recommended groups, such as those aged 60 and over, individuals with at-risk conditions, and essential service workers.
Citizens can book appointments via La Meva Salut, the Health Department's appointment scheduling website, or directly at their primary care center. From November 16th, it is also planned that eligible groups can access vaccination without a prior appointment at primary care centers.
