Residents of Castellbisbal have a date with culture and sports this Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24. The XXVIII Santa Rita Festival arrives with a diverse program, featuring everything from inline hockey semifinals and finals to creative workshops and family shows.
On Saturday morning, the Illa Esportiva will host the inline hockey competitions, while the Santa Rita Festival events will kick off at 10:30 AM in Santa Rita. The Josep Mateu i Miró Municipal Library will offer the workshop Bibliolab: Wall.e 2.0 at 11:30 AM, where participants can build a robot with autonomous movement inspired by the movie character.
Saturday's schedule continues in the afternoon with the Cucada, organized by the Agrupació de Cuques de Castellbisbal at the Plaça de l’Església starting at 5:00 PM. Later, at 6:00 PM in Santa Rita, the family show Urbacontes Santa Rita: La Petra en el món Gaudí will take place, a scenic journey through Gaudí's universe.
On Sunday, May 24, the Parc de l’Ermita will be the venue for the 9th Bioblitz Metropolità (11:30 AM - 1:30 PM), a citizen science activity to inventory species. In the afternoon, at 6:00 PM, the Ball de la Gent Gran (Seniors' Dance) will be held in the Town Hall Assembly Hall.
Additionally, throughout the weekend, the temporary exhibition El moviment coral i la reconstrucció cultural, dins de Memòria en xarxa (The choral movement and cultural reconstruction, within Memory Network) will be on display at the Museu de la Pagesia. The exhibition, involving 24 museums, focuses on the role of the choral movement in cultural reconstruction during the transition, featuring pieces based on the collection of Coral La Unió.
