A 34-year-old man, allegedly responsible for a fire last Friday in his apartment in Terrassa's Guadiana industrial estate, is scheduled to appear in court this Monday, as confirmed by the Mossos d'Esquadra.

The Investigation Unit (UI) of the Terrassa Mossos took over the case after the Municipal Police apprehended the individual. The arrest occurred once the Generalitat Firefighters extinguished the flames and a neighbor, who had taken refuge on a balcony, could be attended to. At the time of the incident, no one else was in the affected dwelling.
The events unfolded around seven in the evening on Friday, when a fire was reported in an apartment on Guadiana Street, number one, in the southeastern blocks of the city. The Firefighters reported that

"The dining room, bedroom, and hallway were burned, and the rest was filled with smoke and high temperatures."

The fire was brought under control in about twenty minutes, but officers remained on site to ventilate the affected areas and inspect the apartments with the support of the Medical Emergency System. Nearby residents, though nervous, were unharmed. Six fire brigades participated in the operation.
The Mossos have confirmed that the Terrassa UI is investigating the fire as

"allegedly intentional."

The individual spent Friday night at MútuaTerrassa hospital, according to sources close to the case. This person, of Maghrebi origin, was in an irregular situation and had an expulsion order from the territory. For weeks, he had reportedly been threatening his family and neighbors with the intention of burning down the building, a situation that had already caused concern within the residential community.
