The award, granted by the Government of Catalonia, was presented ex aequo to both initiatives. The jury emphasized the importance of Diari de Sabadell as a benchmark for local Catalan journalism, highlighting its long tradition and deep connection to the informative, civic, and cultural life of Sabadell and the Vallès region.
“"A leading publication in local Catalan journalism, heir to a long journalistic tradition and deeply linked to the informative, civic, and cultural life of the city and the Vallès."
Furthermore, its continuity and adaptability to new times were valued, elements considered key for informational pluralism and strengthening the value of a project rooted in the territory. This recognition comes at a significant time, as the Diari de Sabadell is preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary on April 2, 2027.
The award ceremony will take place on May 19 at the Teatre Principal de Sabadell. The National Communication Awards 2025 have also recognized other entities and professionals, such as Banc Sabadell, the 3Cat platform, RAC1, RTVE Catalunya, journalist Esther Vera, and Justo Molinero.
Banc Sabadell received the National Advertising and Corporate Communication Award for its campaign during the BBVA takeover bid process, highlighting its ability to connect with small shareholders. 3Cat was awarded in the digital communication category for its audiovisual consolidation, and RAC1 in the radio category for surpassing one million daily listeners on its 25th anniversary. RTVE Catalunya was recognized for its more than 60 years of trajectory in Catalan, and Esther Vera for her contribution to consolidating the newspaper ARA. Finally, Justo Molinero received the National Honor Award for his successful radio and business career.
These awards, created by the Generalitat de Catalunya in 1999 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the first regular radio broadcast in Catalonia, aim to recognize the most significant contributions in the field of communication in the region.
