The collective Patrimoni Gràfic Sabadell, dedicated to preserving historic shop signs, has organized an exhibition set to open on September 2nd at the city's Art Museum. The event coincides with the start of the Festa Major and is part of the retrospective 'I de la ferida sentir que un jardí floreix', curated by SBD Obert, an initiative supporting local artistic practice since 2012.
Among the artists associated with this exhibition is Guillem Celada, a member of Patrimoni Gràfic Sabadell. Celada, who previously participated in an exhibition at the venue in 2023, found strong connections with his artistic interests. "I had personally saved some signs over the years," he explains, "and I thought it would be ideal to lend my exhibition space so the collective could showcase their work from the past six months".
The selection includes signs from Ràdio Grau, which specialized in appliances since the 1930s and was located on the Rambla. Also featured are the original sign from Frankfurt Permanyer, alongside elements from businesses that have recently closed, such as the haberdashery La Moda (passeig de la Plaça Major), the party supply store Vidal Papers (carrer Sant Pere), and La Bolle (carrer Estrella).
Celada highlights the case of Casa Homedes, a building with 300 years of history on carrer de la Rosa, which had been operating as an establishment since 1830. Although the sign and facade were theoretically protected, the building suffered a partial collapse on March 15th.
