A vegetation fire broke out this Thursday, August 13th, in the vicinity of the Can Petit industrial estate in Terrassa. The alert was received by the emergency number 112 shortly before half past five in the afternoon (5:37 PM). Two units from the Bombers de la Generalitat de Catalunya, a patrol from the Terrassa Municipal Police, and a unit from the Agents Rurals were quickly dispatched to the scene.
Official sources confirm that the origin of the flames was likely due to the use of industrial machinery to set up a tent, from which a spark may have jumped. Despite swift action, the flames affected approximately 150 meters of cultivated fields, bushes, and shrubbery located between the industrial estate and a farmhouse. The tent itself remained intact.
“"The use of industrial machinery to set up a tent reportedly caused the fire due to a spark."
While firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, the Terrassa Municipal Police verified that the tent setup had been carried out without prior authorization. Furthermore, those responsible were reminded of the current ALFA Plan level 3 prohibition, which restricts the use of machinery in forest areas and rural zones within a 500-meter radius to prevent explosions or sparks.
Consequently, the local security force initiated an administrative sanctioning process against the responsible individual. This infraction can lead to financial penalties and, in cases of forest fires, imprisonment and significant civil and economic liabilities to cover firefighting costs and environmental damages.
In addition, the Terrassa Municipal Police filed a separate report against the same individual for possession of narcotic substances.
