Jacquard Avenue in Terrassa is nearing the final stages of its complete reopening to traffic. Last May, a significant pothole was discovered on the roadway of this avenue, located between the Cementiri Vell and Vallparadís neighborhoods, which necessitated the closure of two lanes as a precaution.
As a preventive measure, the City Council immediately closed two lanes on the south side and opened one of the north-side lanes for outgoing vehicles. Subsequently, after an urgent inspection of the sewer network, traffic was permitted on one of the lanes.
The inspection determined the need to intervene on the collector and its surroundings. The repair works, which began on July 16th, have extended to four weeks. According to official sources, the first phase of the works will conclude next week, provided no further defects are found and weather conditions remain favorable. This phase will allow for the full restoration of traffic, although the road will only be concreted, with final asphalt paving scheduled for September.
The intervention involved excavating a trench of approximately twenty meters to repair the affected area and replace the damaged section of the collector. In the fourth quarter of 2026, a second phase of works is planned, which will include inserting a 40-meter sleeve inside the collector to repair the pipe from within, with traffic disruptions expected for two days.
