The tradition, kept alive since 1964, involves regenerating the fire at the summit of Canigó, at an altitude of 2,784 meters, and then distributing it through relays across the territory. The event is organized with the collaboration of entities such as Casal del Conflent, IGD Flama del Canigó, Òmnium Cultural, and the Federació d'Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya.
Transporting the flame to the city required precise logistics. The fire is carried inside a lantern protected by a metal bucket, with additional safety measures such as fire extinguishers. Once at Nova Creu Square, members of the Joventut Atlètica de Sabadell were responsible for carrying the fire to the local bonfires.
This year's expedition was marked by the physical demands of the ascent, which was carried out in several stages to avoid the hottest hours. The route included a stop at the Cortalets refuge before reaching the summit to light the flame at midnight, just before the start of Saint John's Day.
