After thirteen months of work and a complete restoration, the Masia Freixa, an emblematic modernist monument in Terrassa, has reopened its doors as a leading museum facility. The space is exceeding all expectations, with an average of around 200 daily visitors since its inauguration. The success has garnered attention from national and specialized media, as well as travel blogs and digital leisure platforms. Entry is free until June 2027.
Figures for guided tours, which include access to the first floor and the viewpoint tower, already show 414 registered participants this week, filling all available slots. Next week's slots are also fully booked. The free self-guided tours are also seeing high attendance, with 250 people on the first Sunday alone.
The appeal of the new Masia Freixa extends beyond borders, capitalizing on the interest in modernism. Guides have assisted international tourists from places like Taiwan, Russia, and San Diego. Local and nearby tourism is also being promoted, with visits from community groups and summer camps.
The success of the reopening builds on the Masia Freixa's prior popularity, which recorded 26,745 visits in the summer of 2024. The restoration, funded by an investment of 1.8 million euros from NextGeneration EU funds, has created open-plan spaces and revealed hidden architectural treasures.
The ground floor offers free access, while the first floor and tower require prior reservation due to limited capacity to preserve the heritage. The venue is open from Tuesday to Saturday, and on Sundays and public holidays. The official inauguration with the involved institutions will take place in early October.
The Masia Freixa, built between 1905 and 1910 by Lluís Muncunill, was transformed from a former factory into a residence and presides over Sant Jordi Park. It is now open for free public visits.
