The Generalitat de Catalunya has opened a new call for rental payment aid aimed at young people under 35, with the goal of facilitating their emancipation.

The call, which opened on June 29th, will be active until July 10th. Applications can be submitted online or in person at the Societat Municipal d’Habitatge, located at Carrer del Pantà, number 30, in Terrassa.
The Terrassa City Council has highlighted the importance of this initiative to ensure that no young person is left behind due to a lack of resources. The Councilor for Social Policies, Lluïsa Melgares, has positively assessed the expansion of income requirements, which will allow more people to access these grants.
The aid is intended for young people who meet various requirements, such as being 35 years old or younger, legally residing in Catalonia, and having a regular source of annual income below 36,279.32 euros for the year 2024. It is also required to be the holder of the lease or use assignment contract, be registered there, and not exceed a monthly rent of 1,000 euros (or 450 euros per room).
The subsidy amount can range from 20% to 40% of the monthly rent, depending on the relationship between the rent and the applicant's income, with a maximum of 3,000 euros per year per beneficiary and a limit of 600 euros per year per dwelling. The aid has a duration of two years.
Additionally, applicants must be up-to-date with rent payments, comply with tax obligations to the State and the Generalitat de Catalunya, and fulfill Social Security obligations. Payment must be made through banking methods such as bank transfer, direct debit, Bizum, or a receipt issued by the property manager.
