According to data from the Catalan Institute of Statistics (Idescat), Terrassa registered 45,338 pension recipients in 2025, a slight increase from the previous year. The city ranked fifth in Catalonia for the number of beneficiaries, following Barcelona, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Badalona, and Sabadell.
Of the total pensioners, 21,097 were men and 24,241 were women. Regarding age, the majority, 36,487 individuals, were 65 years or older.
The average monthly amount received in Terrassa was €1,519.44, a 4.47% increase from the previous year. However, this figure is lower than the Catalan average (€1,575.28) and that of Vallès Occidental (€1,583.24).
The average amount received per pensioner in Terrassa was the lowest among the five largest Catalan municipalities and the second lowest in the Vallès Occidental region for towns with over 20,000 inhabitants, surpassed only by Ripollet.
The gender gap in pension perception in Terrassa stood at €405 per month, with men receiving an average of €1,736 and women €1,331. This difference has widened since 2020.
The majority of the 52,671 benefits corresponded to retirement pensions (34,366), followed by widowhood (10,614) and permanent disability (6,336).
Regarding contribution schemes, 45,036 pensions were from the general regime, averaging €1,346.26, while 6,551 belonged to the special regime for self-employed workers (RETA), with an average of €1,017.50.
