The City Council of Rubí has launched a new maintenance model for green spaces, trees, and children's play areas, reinforced by an independent quality control service.

This Wednesday, July 15, new contracts for the conservation, maintenance, and conditioning of green spaces, trees and palm trees, and children's play areas in Rubí come into effect. In parallel, the service quality control contract begins, a tool designed to verify that the work is carried out according to the required standards and within the established deadlines.
The new service organization is divided into four distinct contracts: one for the maintenance of green spaces, another for the management of trees and palm trees (over 12,000 specimens), a third for the conservation of children's play areas, and a fourth exclusively for the quality control of the previous three. This structure aims to specialize actions and improve their monitoring.
The green spaces contract includes routine tasks such as cleaning, watering, fertilizing, maintaining lawns and shrubs, as well as extraordinary interventions for incidents, vandalism, or weather events. For tree management, pruning, phytosanitary control, and risk inspection of over 12,000 specimens are planned. In children's play areas, periodic reviews of equipment, safety surfacing, and signage will be incorporated, along with annual inspections for safety certifications.
One of the main novelties is the specific quality control contract, independent of the maintenance companies. This service will conduct periodic inspections, produce monthly reports, and verify the quality of the work performed and the resolution of incidents, impacting the monthly certification of services.

"The good maintenance of green areas, children's play areas, and trees is one of the foundations for a healthy, first-class city. We are working to overcome the concept of green as a secondary element and make it structural. We are reinforcing this vision with this new contract and continuing to integrate it into ongoing construction projects."

The new model also integrates digital management, planning, and inventory control tools, aiming for a more efficient and higher quality service for public spaces.
In the context of climate emergency, urban green spaces are considered essential infrastructure that helps reduce the urban heat island effect, improve air quality, and increase biodiversity. Children's play areas, in turn, are fundamental for children's development, socialization, and physical activity.
