On Friday, August 14th, the two swimmers from Terrassa made history in the French capital. Despite not winning a medal, the Spanish quartet broke the previous state record by one and a half seconds, which was set last year at the World Championships in Singapore.
After qualifying for the final phase with some difficulty, the swimmers delivered a strong performance. Luca Hoek swam the first leg in a time of 47.56 seconds, placing the team in second position. Pérez Godoy maintained podium contention with a time of 47.81 seconds. On the women's side, María Daza and Irene Ciércoles completed the race, finishing in fourth place overall.
This marks the second state record for Hoek and Pérez Godoy in a short period. They had previously set a new mark in the men's 4x100 metre freestyle relay, which has stood since the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Spanish team recorded a final time of 3:11.91 minutes in that event.
In other competitions of the day, Estella Tonrath faced challenges in the 100 metre backstroke, failing to reach the final. Meanwhile, Isaak Fernández achieved a personal best in the 200 metre butterfly, securing first reserve spot for the final with a time of 1:55.99.
