The city of Terrassa is set to deliver 106 rental homes in Can Colomer and plans to complete the year with the handover of 152 more, marking the first phase of an affordable housing initiative exceeding 1,000 units.

In the coming months, the delivery of 106 rental apartments at Can Colomer will be finalized. Before the year's end, the handover of an additional 152 homes, built by the Fundació Salas, will commence, following the 2023 adjudication of public land.
These developments are part of a broader plan aiming to exceed 1,000 affordable rental homes currently under construction, with an investment surpassing 115 million euros. The goal is to ensure these homes remain affordable for families for generations, preventing speculation.
The core of this strategy lies in maintaining public ownership of the land through surface rights, ensuring prices are regulated and kept out of the free market. This model facilitates public-private collaboration under a protected housing scheme.
Access to these homes will be transparent and objective, managed through the Registry of Applicants for Protected Housing. Priority will be given to specific groups, including young people, the elderly, single-parent families, individuals with reduced mobility, and victims of gender-based violence.
This shift in model aims to give affordable housing a structural role in the city, distancing it from market speculation and guaranteeing the right to stable and affordable housing for all families.
