The Decentralized Municipal Entity (EMD) of Valldoreix has unveiled the program for its 2026 Local Festival, scheduled from September 16th to 20th. The event will feature a wide array of cultural, sporting, musical, and family activities spread across various locations in the municipality, aiming to foster community spirit and citizen participation.
This year, the spotlight is on the residents of the Colònia Montserrat, who are celebrating their centenary. They will deliver the opening speech on Friday, September 18th, in the EMD's Plenary Hall. The commemoration of this anniversary serves as one of the symbolic cornerstones of this year's festivities.
The program includes offerings for all ages. Highlights include a jazz concert featuring Júlia Plans, the Youth Night with performances by Los 80 Principales, Les Montses, and Doctor Prats. There will also be a gathering of cultural entities, artisan and antique fairs, a parade of 'gegants' (giants), a 'diada castellera' (human tower event), a paella cooking contest, and a traditional sea shanty concert with Les Anxovetes.
The festival strengthens its ties with the local associative fabric, involving over twenty entities that will organize activities, workshops, and exhibitions throughout the weekend. This participatory model reinforces the role of organizations and citizens as central figures of the celebration.
The presentation was attended by the president of the EMD of Valldoreix, Juanjo Cortés, accompanied by the Culture Councilor, Susana Casta, and a member of the Colònia Montserrat Residents' Association, Noelia Bocanegra. Cortés and Casta expressed gratitude for the involvement of entities, volunteers, and staff, while Bocanegra conveyed the honor of being the opening speakers.
