The POL, originally created as a Labour Orientation Point in 1996, has marked three decades of activity. Initially located in a small office, the service moved in 2008 to the new El Roure facilities, expanding its training and orientation offerings with equipped classrooms, including a computer lab.
The POL's main objective is to facilitate job placement for individuals, whether they are seeking new employment or aiming to improve their current job. To achieve this, the service combines vocational training, personalized professional guidance, and intermediation with the local business community. It also provides support to companies in finding and retaining talent.
The figures accumulated over these 30 years reflect the service's impact: over 4,500 occupational interviews, 4,000 individual guidance sessions, 700 group sessions, and around 35,000 attendances at the Job Club. In terms of training, more than 315 courses have been organized with over 1,400 participants, and 3,600 individuals have received vocational training. Additionally, the City Council has directly hired over 200 people through local employment programs.
Regarding businesses, the POL has served over 1,000, managing more than 3,000 job offers that have led to the employment of approximately 1,700 people.
The Councillor for Employment, Tània Bravo, emphasizes the service's constant need to adapt to the changing labour market, always maintaining the core idea of intermediation between people and companies to reduce unemployment. The POL, which falls under the Employment Department, is part of XALOC, the Network of Local Employment Services in the province of Barcelona.
To celebrate this anniversary, a Job Search Gincana will be held on Friday, October 9th, at the POL (c. Balmes, 10). This session, led by Laura Cespedosa, will offer 20 practical challenges to define professional goals, improve resumes, and understand the hidden job market. During the event, from 11 am to 12 pm, a commemorative celebration with a small gift will take place.
Registrations and attendance confirmations can be made at slo.pol@ajpolinya.cat, by calling 93 713 14 21, or via WhatsApp at 663 992 354.
