The II Archives and Local Research Days in Riba del Ripoll, held on October 23rd and 24th in Ripollet, Cerdanyola del Vallès, and Montcada i Reixac, have served to highlight the documentary heritage and historical memory of the region.

The initiative, organized by the municipal archives of Ripollet, Cerdanyola del Vallès, and Montcada i Reixac, along with the Comarcal Archive of Vallès Occidental, has become a space for exchanging knowledge and experiences related to local research, the preservation of documentary heritage, and the recovery of historical memory.
The inaugural event, held on Friday, October 23rd, at the Cultural Centre of Ripollet, was attended by the president of the Consell Comarcal of Vallès Occidental, Xavier Garcés, as well as representatives from the organizing town councils, the Diputació de Barcelona, and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The days brought together archive professionals, researchers, students, and individuals interested in local history, with the aim of presenting research, showcasing heritage recovery experiences, and advocating for the role of archives as essential tools for preserving and disseminating collective memory.
The first session, in Ripollet, included a lecture on the 1950 powder magazine explosion in Montcada, a round table on the importance of private collections in municipal archives, and various local research communications. The educational experience linked to the documentary De les vinyes als carrers. Memòries de Can Mas, created by students and teachers from Institut-Escola El Martinet, was also presented.
Activities continued on Saturday, October 24th, in Cerdanyola del Vallès and at the Casa de les Aigües in Montcada i Reixac, with new lectures, communications, and debate sessions dedicated to the region's history, heritage, democratic memory, and local research.
This second edition follows up on the initiative started in 2024 and strengthens the collaboration between municipal archives and the Comarcal Archive of Vallès Occidental to promote research, historical dissemination, and public access to documentary heritage.
