Ripollet is just 3.5 points away from meeting the European recycling target, achieving 51.5% according to the AMB's 2025 waste generation, collection, and recycling report.

The municipality ranks eleventh among the top recycling municipalities in the metropolitan area. With 51.5%, Ripollet is in the mid-range, alongside Montgat, Pallejà, and Sant Cugat. Neighboring municipalities such as Barberà del Vallès (44.1%), Cerdanyola del Vallès (38%), and Montcada i Reixac (30.1%) lag behind.
The report highlights that municipalities with the highest recycling rates, like Santa Coloma de Cervelló (80%), Tiana, Corbera, and Torrelles, utilize the door-to-door collection system. Sant Just Desvern, using smart bins, ranks fifth with 64.5%. Out of the AMB's 36 municipalities, 28 did not reach the 55% target set by the European Union.
In 2025, the metropolitan area generated 1,465,045 tons of waste, a 1.6% increase from the previous year, averaging 422.42 kg per inhabitant. Although per capita waste production has decreased by 11.7% since 2010, it remains far from the EU's 2030 target of a 15% reduction, primarily due to a decrease in the organic waste fraction.
The organic fraction accounted for 106 kg per inhabitant in 2025, with 35.5% collected selectively, a 2.4% increase. Light packaging waste was 54 kg per inhabitant (36.7% selective), glass waste was 31 kg (64.6% selective), and paper and cardboard was 67 kg (43.9% selective). Glass is the most established fraction, although its consumption and selective collection are declining.
