The twelfth edition of the Rubí International Photography Festival, La Nuu, opens this Friday at 8 PM at the Ateneu Municipal. The event, with portraiture as its central theme under the slogan "The Face as a Map", will explore the multiple ways of constructing and representing identity in contemporary photography through the vision of twelve international artists.
Throughout the weekend, the Ateneu Municipal will be the festival's hub with the FOCUS sessions. Additionally, festival installations will be visible throughout October in various city locations, including the Antiga Estació, the Biblioteca Municipal Mestre Martí Tauler, the Escardívol, the Pich Aguilera factory, and the squares of Celler, Nova Estació, Anselm Clavé, Doctor Guardiet, and Salvador Allende.
The exhibited works include pieces such as "Dry" by Abdo Shanan at the Antiga Estació, "I Saw Me Seeing Myself" by Liz Gorman at the Biblioteca Municipal Mestre Martí Tauler, and "The Topography of Tears" by Rose-Lynn Fisher at Salvador Allende Square, among others.
The FOCUS sessions this weekend will feature a wide range of cultural activities, including the independent photobook and publication fair BOOKNUP, an exhibition of children's photobooks, a stereoscopic photography workshop, a dialogue between photographer Mariela Sancari and philosopher Andrea Soto Calderón, musical performances, and a gastronomic area. On Saturday, the finalist works of the SCREEN section for audiovisual photography will also be screened.
Furthermore, every Saturday in October, free guided tours of the outdoor exhibitions will be offered, led by the festival director, Carles Mercader Fulquet. The festival is organized by the cultural entity Ull x Ull with the support of the Rubí City Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the Diputació de Barcelona.
