R4 Line Delays Exceed 45 Minutes Due to Infrastructure Incident at Montcada Bifurcació

The Rodalies de Catalunya R4 line suffered severe delays exceeding half an hour on Friday afternoon due to an infrastructure failure at Montcada Bifurcació.

The 'black day' for Rodalies de Catalunya occurred on Friday, with delays surpassing 30 minutes on the R4 line. The incident originated at Montcada Bifurcació, where Adif technicians worked on repairs. Passengers reported waiting times exceeding one hour in Cerdanyola and delays over 45 minutes at Sabadell Sud station around 6 PM.
Besides the specific delays, the R4 also experienced irregular frequencies, with waiting times up to 21 minutes longer than usual. This incident also impacted southern lines such as the R13, R14, R16, and R17, extending travel times near Sant Vicenç de Calders. The RL4 line recorded delays up to 75 minutes.

Separately, the mixed company for Rodalies management will be constituted next Monday, marking a key step in the service's new governance. The event will be chaired at the Palau de la Generalitat by President Salvador Illa and Transport Minister Óscar Puente.
The board of directors will consist of nine members: five appointed by the Generalitat and four by Renfe. The presidency will fall to the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque. The new company is scheduled to start with a budget of 1.5557 million euros in its first fiscal year.
