Data published by the Catalan Institute of Statistics (Idescat) shows that the capital of Vallès Occidental added 120 people to the unemployment lists compared to November. However, the overall figure of 10,574 unemployed is the best recorded in a December since the outbreak of the financial crisis in 2008.
At the regional level, Catalonia closed 2025 with a total of 323,236 people without work. This represents an increase of 0.58% (+1,860 people) compared to the previous month, but a significant reduction of 3.57% (-11,959 people) compared to the end of 2024.
“"It has been a good year in terms of employment."
Institutional and employer assessments have been mixed. While the Government celebrates the year-on-year reduction data, the main business entities warn of a slowdown in the labor market.
“"Unemployment is not being reduced with the expected intensity, and companies continue to have difficulties covering vacancies."
