The Catalonia Meteorological Service has activated a danger alert for strong winds in Sant Cugat and much of the Vallès Occidental, with gusts up to 70 km/h starting Thursday, January 8, in the afternoon.

The Catalonia Meteorological Service (SMC) has issued a strong wind danger alert affecting Sant Cugat del Vallès and most of the Catalan territory. The episode is set to begin on Thursday, January 8, in the afternoon, and will remain active throughout Friday and Saturday.
In Sant Cugat, the alert level reaches 3 out of 6, particularly during Friday morning, when gusts could exceed 70 kilometers per hour. Due to this forecast, Protecció Civil de la Generalitat (Catalan Civil Protection) has activated the alert phase of the Special Emergency Plan for Wind Risk in Catalonia (Ventcat).

Civil Protection urges extreme caution when traveling by road and during outdoor activities.

Among the basic advice, it is recommended to secure doors, windows, and awnings at home, and collect non-static objects from terraces and facades. Outdoors, people should be wary of street furniture, trees, and avoid wooded areas or high places exposed to the wind. If driving, reduce speed and hold the steering wheel firmly, especially when operating large vehicles.
