Registered unemployment in Vallès Occidental saw a monthly reduction of 1% during September, standing at 42,094 people. This represents 423 fewer individuals than in August. Traditionally, September is a month of declining unemployment in the region, although this year the improvement was less pronounced than in the previous year (-2.3%).
This positive trend in the region contrasts with that of Catalonia as a whole, where unemployment has increased by 0.2%. Compared to the previous year, Vallès Occidental has 184 fewer unemployed people (-0.4%), a more favorable figure than Catalonia's, where unemployment has accelerated its growth to 2.5% (8,000 more people).
The provisional registered unemployment rate in the region remains around 8.8%. The monthly decrease in unemployment is widespread across the territory, with reductions in 18 municipalities, stability in Gallifa, and increases in 4 locations: Badia del Vallès, Barberà del Vallès, Matadepera, and Rubí.
Among the municipalities with higher unemployment, relative decreases are notable in Viladecavalls (-6.8%), Sant Cugat del Vallès (-4.0%), Sant Quirze del Vallès (-3.6%), Castellbisbal (-2.9%), Vacarisses (-2.6%), Palau-solità i Plegamans (-2.5%), Cerdanyola del Vallès (-2.5%), and Polinyà (-2.0%). In absolute numbers, the most significant decreases are recorded in Terrassa (-128), Sant Cugat del Vallès (-97), Cerdanyola del Vallès (-55), and Sabadell (-35).
