The Sant Quirze del Vallès City Council held an emotional tribute on Saturday to the 61 residents of the municipality who have reached 90 or 100 years of age during 2026, in an event held at the Patronal as part of the Month of the Elderly.

A total of 58 residents have turned 90 and three have reached the age of 100 this year. Of these, 16 were able to attend the celebration, including one centenarian.
The mayor, Elisabeth Oliveras, highlighted the effort and resilience of this generation, born in 1936, and their contribution to building a better future. Both the mayor and the president of the Associació Casal d'Avis, José Luis Sagredo, presented commemorative gifts.
Special recognition was given to Encarnación Camps, who has turned 100, receiving the Centenarian Medal from the Generalitat de Catalunya. Camps maintains an active life and continues to attend computer classes.
Students from the Sant Quirze and Onze de Setembre institutes read biographies of the honored individuals, giving voice to their experiences of perseverance and optimism.
The celebration included a musical performance by Marta i Yenic, who offered a repertoire of Latin American and Catalan music with cellos. The event concluded with refreshments and relaxed conversations in the Salut Pastor hall.
