Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, a municipality located in the high-risk zone, has not registered any cases of African Swine Fever since the first positive detection in Cerdanyola on November 28, 2025. This was confirmed by the Councilor for Citizen Security and Civil Protection, Sergi Garcia.
The mayor of Santa Perpètua, Joan Carles Mingueza, and councilor Sergi Garcia met this week in Torreferrussa with the Director General of Rural Agents of the Generalitat, Elisabet Pérez, and the head of rural agents, Antoni Mur, to analyze the situation. To date, 13,541 wild boars have been analyzed, of which 400 have tested positive and 13,141 negative.
Sergi Garcia highlighted that Santa Perpètua has the only farm in the affected territory that has decided not to empty it, reaffirming the commitment to "preserve this space".
The municipal Plenary approved a motion with favorable votes from SPEC and Esquerra to review the exceptional measures derived from African Swine Fever and to define areas of free access in the affected natural spaces. The proposal received a negative vote from the PSC and abstentions from PP, Vox, and Cs.
During the meeting, the expansion of the facilities at Torreferrussa, the central headquarters of the Rural Agents corps, and the rehabilitation of the tower were also discussed. The corps, currently comprising around 800 officers, plans to increase its staff to 1,300 by 2030.
Furthermore, the presence of ticks detected in educational centers in the municipality, such as INS Estela Ibèrica, was addressed. According to councilor Sergi Garcia, the origin lies in a rabbit plague in the Parc de les Aigües in Can Filuà and around the R8 line and Camí de la Granja. The coordination of Rural Agents was requested to combat this plague, as hunting is not permitted in Santa Perpètua.
