La Generalitat adquireix terrenys per 42,7 milions per al hub audiovisual a les Tres Xemeneies

Generalitat de Catalunya · CC0

The Generalitat de Catalunya has acquired land for €42.7 million in the Tres Xemeneies area, in Sant Adrià del Besòs, to ensure the deployment of the audiovisual, digital, and video game hub known as Catalunya Media City.

The purchase of tertiary land is a necessary condition for the project's implementation, as without available spaces for economic activity, the public sector cannot guarantee the ordering and promotion of the business, technological, and creative fabric linked to the initiative. This acquisition also activates related urban planning, asset management, investment, and operational decisions.
Catalunya Media City is a multidisciplinary initiative aiming to transform the Tres Xemeneies area into a prominent innovation and production center for the audiovisual, digital, and video game sectors. With a public-private and collaborative approach, it promotes research, innovation, and production, offering cutting-edge technology and fostering both local creation and the attraction of international productions.
The objective is to become a strategic hub for the audiovisual and digital sector in Catalonia, with a positive economic impact. Initiatives include actions in the buildings of Tres Xemeneies, the Nau Turbines, and adjacent spaces, as well as the Parc Audiovisual de Catalunya in Terrassa. The urbanization of the Sant Adrià waterfront sector foresees a new neighborhood with a Metropolitan park, social housing, facilities, and public spaces.
The project is led by the Generalitat de Catalunya and supported by the municipalities of Sant Adrià and Badalona, the Consorci del Besòs (with participation from the Barcelona City Council), the Terrassa City Council, and the Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals. All these institutions are part of the joint monitoring and promotion committee.
